Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for an Independent Reviewing Officer/Child Protection Chair to work full time for Bury.

The salary for this Independent Reviewing Officer/Child Protection Chair job is up to £47,754 per annum.Main duties:

  • Arrange and chair Child Protection & Child Sexual Exploitation case conferences, Looked After Children’s reviews, Private Fostering reviews & occasional Child in Need reviews within required timescales in a structured way ensuring relevant, effective contributions by all members.
  • Chair strategy meetings for child sexual exploitation & children missing from home in accordance with the BSCB & the Authority TRI-X procedures.
  • In respect of Child Protection, to agree the need for the initial conference via a duty rota consultation service, to advise on the requirements of registrations for registration and to obtain a decision about registration on the basis of discussion and agreement.
  • Cover on occasions, a duty system for the LADO and to chair strategy meetings undertake within professional abuse procedures.
  • Provide professional procedural advice to staff in Children’s Services and other agencies involved in childcare issues to ensure good decision making on the basis of sound professional judgements and conformity with Bury’s Safeguarding Procedures and statutory procedures.
  • Implement quality assurance systems so that standards of service can be monitored, and to contribute to any necessary practice improvement.
  • Ensure that appropriate information is supplied to maintain an accurate list of children subject to a child protection plan and Looked After Children database with information being circulated to all interested parties.
  • Work with the CLA and Child Protection administrative staff to ensure that the office functions efficiently in order to meet the timescales for meetings and reports and the availability of advice and guidance to departmental and inter-agency staff.
  • Provide cover and maintain specific tasks in the Manager’s absence, i.e. working groups, multi-agency forums etc.
  • Advise the manager and any other relevant senior managers on matters which require their attention.
  • Any other duties of an equal nature appropriate to the post as may be determined by the Chief Officer.

Requirements of this Independent Reviewing Officer/Child Protection Chairjob:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.

  • Registered or eligible for registration.
