Are you a talented senior scientific editor with a passion for biology? We have a fantastic opening for a senior position of Executive Editor with an organisation dedicated to supporting and inspiring the biological community on an international level. In this role, you will be joining an experienced and successful team where you will make a significant contribution to one of the organisation’s flagship Open Access journals in its field. As Executive Editor, you will manage an in-house team, overseeing manuscript submissions, journal development and editorial decisions. The organisation offers hybrid working from their Cambridge office along with an excellent salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Journal development and editorial management in collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief and the Publishing Director
  • Managing in-house editorial and admin team
  • Working with academic editors on journal initiatives
  • Involvement in publishing projects and cross-journal initiatives
  • Content leadership, training and support for editorial staff

We are looking for a candidate with A PhD in Biology or related field. A broad knowledge and interest in science and the scientific community is a requirement of this position in addition to significant editorial experience, including dealing with publication integrity issues. You will have an excellent network of contacts within the academic community and excellent communication skills.

Prior team management experience would be an advantage however, training and mentoring will be provided.
