As a result of continuous growth, the opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to join our clients Manufacturing team at our Upwood site.

Our client a family-owned business with sites across the UK and Europe. The company has grown organically and through acquisition to become the UK’s leading and most innovative national manufacturer and supplier of sustainable timber products and bespoke timber-packaging solutions.

The successful candidate will report to the Production Supervisor, this role will be responsible for leading a team of operators and ensure the smooth running of the production process to efficiently produce orders to the required quality specifications and production output quantities, on target and on time. You will follow best practice to improve area and team using continuous improvement techniques, team training and leading improvement projects.

You will be responsible for production in terms of management of staff, management of production and targets and to ensure the smooth running of the production processes. You will contribute to new business initiatives, projects, and review and communicate the impact on manufacturing activities. It is crucial to develop and maintain good working relationships with team members and other team leaders, clearly communicating tasks, issues, and handovers.

You will play a key part in the team to assist in the induction process and training of all new production employees, ensuring that all safe system of work is always followed. It is important to engage with the team to ensure good staff morale. You will attend team meetings with your manager, reporting on shift productivity and absences, and review team and individuals’ performance.

As a Team Leader you will have previous manufacturing Team Leader experience, be able to give briefings, create presentations and be able to delegate authority in the workplace. A customer focused attitude, confidence, and a friendly attitude.

Experience in Kai-zan and 6 Sigma would be advantageous as well as excellent IT Skills.
