CUSTOMS CLERK

To support a growing logistics site in Lympne, Kent, my client are seeking an experienced 'Customs Clerk' to join their night shift where you will be part of a team of 2.

POSITION SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with HMRC and other authorities to ensure goods cleared released
  • Ensure HMRC rule and regulations are adhered to
  • Liaise with customers (both internal and external) to ensure excellent service
  • Ensure company values and strategies are followed
  • Feed market information in to business to ensure the client offers a competitive service
  • Work closely with sales team to grow customer share of wallet
  • Support Customs Freight Manager in the development and growth of department
  • AdHoc functions as and when required and directed by line manager

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

A. Manage movement and clearance of goods in and out of UK

B. Ensure timely management of drivers

C. Assist in product development and process improvement

D. Ensure business need met

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 1-2 years HMRC entry processing / CDS experience
  • Good HSS code knowledge / classification
  • Basic understanding of PECH and DEFRA applications
  • Good temperature controlled equipment knowledge
  • Knowledge / experience importing / exporting produce / foodstuff
  • Experience with Cargowise a bonus but full training can be provided.
