Are you passionate about supporting young people as they transition to independent living? Join our Southwark-based team as a Specialist Support Worker and play a crucial role in transforming the lives of vulnerable young adults aged 16-24.

About the Role

The service provides accommodation-based and floating support for young adults across various sites in Southwark. The facilities include single and studio units, shared communal spaces, and independent units in shared houses. Our aim is to offer a supportive environment that helps young people on their journey toward independent living. As a Specialist Support Worker, you will work closely with young people who have complex needs such as mental health challenges, substance misuse, and homelessness. You will manage diverse caseloads, providing tailored support to help them build the skills and confidence needed for independent living. Your role will also involve guiding service users with practical tasks such as budgeting, managing tenancies, and accessing education, training, or employment.

Location: Southwark SE5

Salary: 15.50 per hour

Hours: Full-time, Shift pattern below:

  • Monday: 14:00 - 22:00
  • Tuesday: 14:00 - 22:00
  • Wednesday to Friday: 09:00 - 17:00

In this senior position, you will also oversee and manage a team of support workers, ensuring the highest level of care and safeguarding for young people and vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults by identifying risks and managing referrals.
  • Managing complex caseloads and creating personalized support plans.
  • Supporting young people with practical life skills, including housing, employment, and education.
  • Supervising and leading a team of support workers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Keeping accurate and detailed records of service users' progress and interactions.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and relevant legislation.
  • Experience managing caseloads, particularly within the homelessness, mental health, or youth sectors.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to support and supervise a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with young people and external partners.
  • Knowledge of housing legislation and benefits systems is advantageous.
