Job Title: Senior Housing Inspection Officer
Location: Northeast London
Salary: £35,845-£50,290
Hours: Monday-Friday 40 hours per week 8.30am-5pm
Contract Type: Permanent
Purpose of the Role:
Our client, a leading provider of housing solutions, is seeking a Senior Inspector to lead a team of inspectors to ensure that accommodation, personnel, and related services comply with contractual and statutory standards. They oversee the work of Inspection Officers and provide critical insights to senior management on risks, controls, and key processes when deficiencies are identified.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with accommodation staff or subcontractors to outline the day’s inspection plan and conduct end-of-day reviews.
- Assess service delivery, subcontractor documentation, and risk registers to ensure adherence to standards.
- Inspect service areas, including at least 5% of rooms, to identify potential non-conformances.
- Log defects and non-conformances, ensuring they are resolved in line with contractual guidelines.
- Regularly review compliance documents and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct pre-inspections of new accommodations, reviewing building compliance and occupancy documentation before go-live.
- Lead and coordinate the inspection team, ensuring scheduled inspections and performance reviews are completed.
- Act as the main contact for UKVI and statutory inspections, ensuring accommodations meet contractual obligations.
- Support and train inspection officers, ensuring they meet role requirements and performance standards.
- Work closely with onsite staff to ensure service delivery aligns with contractual and statutory requirements.
Required Skills:
- Experience in housing inspections at a supervisory or managerial level.
- Ability to build, motivate, and manage a high-performing team.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Desirable: Qualification or training in housing management.
- Education: GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Desirable: Experience working with challenging tenant groups.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing demands.
- Experience handling multiple stakeholders both in person and remotely.
- Proven ability to deliver positive outcomes under pressure and devise operational solutions.
- Strong relationship-building, planning, and prioritisation skills.
- Skilled in managing multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle are essential, as this role involves extensive daily travel.
