British Sign Language Level 1 Teaching Assistant

Where: Lewisham, South East London

When: ASAP start

Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm

Rate: 100 - 110

Remedy Education are looking for a BSL teaching assistant to start in a lovely school based in Lewisham. The role is starting ASAP on a full-time long-term basis.

The School

This is a mainstream Primary school and the school prides themselves on providing a structure and atmosphere where students are treated as individuals and are supported to develop into independent and successful learners with a positive identity. Integration with high ability learners plays a big role in ensuring they have high levels of self-esteem and confidence in themselves to take up equal places in our society.

As BSL teaching assistant, you will support a Year 1 child on a 1:1 basis.

The successful applicant will hold a Level 1 BSL qualification (Signature / CACDP) as well as practical experience of using BSL.

Responsibilities of a BSL Teaching Assistant

  • Be the first point of call for the pupil
  • Setting new learning targets
  • Being a general support to the pupil
  • Supporting the teacher as and when required
  • Must have previous experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments
  • Ideally have Level 1 in British Sign Language
