As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working alongside the class teacher to support children with a variety of learning difficulties, ensuring that they have the tools and support they need to thrive in their educational journey. You will provide one-to-one and small group support, assist with classroom management, and help students engage with their lessons in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children with SEN on a one-to-one or small group basis.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and adapting materials to suit individual needs.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Provide personal care and support to students where necessary.
- Encourage students to build their social, communication, and academic skills.
- Monitor and record students progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere.
- A passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting (SEN experience preferred).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (desirable).
