Position: SEND Teacher within ASD Specialism School

Location: Romford & Ilford

Contract Type: Full Time, Long Term

Start Date: ASAP / January 2025

Salary: Scale Point Rate 700 - 1,200 / week

Working in SEN is incredibly rewarding and demands innovative thinkers who can look beyond disability labels to uncover each child's potential and love for learning.

We are working with an OFSTED-rated 'Outstanding' Special Needs School for children aged 3-11 years in Romford and Ilford, for either an immediate or January 2025 start.

At our ever-growing school, you'll address four broad categories of need: communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, as well as sensory and/or physical needs.

Education and training in Special Needs are essential. The school is well-resourced, providing excellent support for both staff and students, alongside outstanding CPD opportunities.

Requirements:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an Overseas Teaching Certificate recognised by Naric

* Experience of working with students with SEND within a mainstream or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) setting

* A patient and understanding approach

* A flexible approach

* Excellent communication skills

* Existing DBS check on the update service

* Experience of PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Rapid Prompting Method and other relevant augmentative and alternative communication approaches are advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver effective lessons which cater to the needs of individual EHCP plans

* Be responsible for all assessments relating to class students

* Be aware of, and remain responsible for all safeguarding of pupils within your care

* Work collaboratively with both teaching and support staff to ensure best outcomes for students

* Foster independence in students and promote well-being and good welfare
