Location: London Borough of Redbridge

Are you a passionate Hair and Beauty Teacher with experience in delivering BTEC Level 2? Do you want to make a meaningful impact on young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a specialist educational setting? If so, this unique opportunity is for you!

We are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the London Borough of Redbridge that caters to students who are unable to attend mainstream schools due to SEMH needs. This PRU is looking for a committed and skilled Qualified Hair and Beauty Teacher to deliver BTEC Level 2 Hair and Beauty courses to secondary-aged students, helping them gain practical vocational skills while also supporting their emotional and personal development.

About the Role: In this role, you will deliver high-quality Hair and Beauty education to students aged 11-16 within a specialist PRU setting. The students face a range of emotional, social, and behavioural challenges, so your lessons will not only focus on academic and vocational success but also on building self-esteem and resilience. You will work closely with a supportive team to provide a structured and nurturing environment that helps students overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and practical lessons in Hair and Beauty to BTEC Level 2 standards.
  • Work with students with SEMH needs, adapting your teaching strategies to suit their individual needs and ensuring they make progress both academically and personally.
  • Provide both theoretical and hands-on instruction, assessing students' work and ensuring they meet course requirements.
  • Collaborate with the wider SEMH and pastoral teams to support students' behavioural, emotional, and academic development.
  • Use your understanding of SEMH and behaviour management strategies to engage and motivate students, helping them succeed despite their challenges.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching Hair and Beauty at BTEC Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs, ideally in a PRU or similar alternative provision.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and behaviour management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with young people facing emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • A passion for supporting students in developing vocational skills alongside personal growth and emotional resilience.

What You Can Expect:

  • A highly rewarding and challenging teaching role in a specialist SEMH provision.
  • The chance to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people, helping them develop both vocational skills and confidence.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment, with ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Competitive salary paid to scale for qualified teachers.
  • The opportunity to positively influence the future of students who require additional support in their learning journey.

If you are a qualified and experienced Hair and Beauty Teacher who is ready for a rewarding challenge in a PRU setting, we would love to hear from you. To apply, please send your CV and cover letter to (url removed), or apply directly through this advert.
