Job Overview: Working alongside our client, a manufacturer of precision injection moulding, pressings & assemblies, we are looking to appoint a Toolmaker to join their established and successful team.

Remit:

  • As a Toolmaker you will be responsible for providing support to the companies manufacturing operations by repairing and maintaining tooling to a production standard.
  • The successful Toolmaker candidate MUST HAVE experience in repairing and maintaining injection mould tools with the ability to confidently use conventional toolroom machinery.

Role:

  • To manufacture new tooling, jigs and fixtures to the required standards and to the commercial deadlines.
  • To manufacture prototype or special components that may be required.
  • To check and measure key dimensions and features of the components made.
  • To ensure that documentation related to tooling maintenance activities is used and completed as required by company procedures.
  • To be available to attend tool trials within standard working hours
  • To complete time sheets and work request documentation in a proper manner.
  • To participate in training opportunities to develop and maintain relevant skills
  • To support and guide less experienced colleagues and apprentices to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • To help maintain the toolroom working area clean and orderly.
  • To be aware of the availability of necessary materials and consumables and to advise line management / authorised purchaser when those stocks are low.
  • To be available to support overtime working as may be necessary, by agreement, from time-to-time to achieve company objectives.
  • To support the company health and safety and environmental policies and legal obligations.


Experience:

  • Experienced via a modern Apprenticeship (Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Engineering Pathway or HND/HNC minimum)
  • Skills and experience in the manufacture and maintenance of injection moulding tools and progression stamping dies
  • The ability to work safely in the assembly and disassembly of tooling, the safe movement and control of heavy plates
  • Mechanical awareness to understand the operation of common tooling mechanisms and movements
  • Use of basic hand tools
  • A high level of competence in the use of manual toolroom machinery including mills, lathes, surface & cylindrical grinding, bench fitting & mould polishing skills
  • The ability to read technical drawings and understand trigonometry
  • CNC programming, milling, spark and wire erosion would be highly desirable
  • Familiarity with hot runner systems would be desirable
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or on their own
  • Good literacy skills Logical problem-solving abilities
  • Good problem solving and reporting abilities
