PE Backed tech business based in the Ilkley area requires a Group Accountant in a newly created role. As a Group Accountant at my client, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial health of the company. You will be responsible for managing group consolidation processes, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the finance team in various aspects of financial reporting and analysis.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, experience in group-level reporting, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller duties will include;
- Group Consolidation: Lead the preparation and review of group consolidation on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow) for the group, ensuring all intercompany transactions are reconciled.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all accounting regulations, tax laws, and financial reporting standards, including UK GAAP, and local regulatory requirements.
- Month-End & Year-End Close: Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes for the group, including financial analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Internal Controls & Process Improvement: Maintain robust internal controls within the group accounting processes, identifying areas for process improvement and implementing best practices.
- Audit Coordination: Assist with internal and external audit processes, providing necessary documentation and supporting the auditors.
- Management Reporting: Prepare and present regular financial reports for the senior management team, highlighting key financial performance metrics, variances, and trends.
- Intercompany Transactions: Manage and ensure accurate intercompany reconciliation and elimination procedures.
- Forecasting & Budgeting: Support the preparation of group forecasts and annual budgets, providing financial insights and analysis to senior management.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various teams, including tax, treasury, and operations, to ensure alignment on financial and operational objectives.
The right candidate will be;
- Education: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or equivalent.
- Experience: Several years post qualified experience in a group accounting or financial reporting role
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of both IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Xero, etc.) and Excel.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
