The Role
Due to growth and expansion of the business the opportunity has arisen for another Management Accountant to join the VPI finance team. We are looking for an experienced, hands on accountant with a strong focus on cost control and the ability to work with various stakeholders. The role involves budgeting, forecasting and monthly cost control of the operating costs within the business. It will cover both UK and European operations and will be dealing with Operations, Maintenance and Central Service functions. As the business is expanding there is a constant need to review and improve current processes to enable new ventures to be integrated into the reporting cycle. The role would suit somebody with previous Management Accounting experience and good systems and people skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly review of opex costs to prepare and post the necessary accruals and prepayments.
- Work with the Plant, Engineering and Central Service budget holders to report on and understand monthly variances.
- Responsible for the stock & GRNI accounting process.
- Responsible for maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and AUC schedule.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely production of the monthly opex cost reports.
- Responsible for the review and accuracy of the opex related balance sheet reconciliations
- Lead the consolidated Opex & Capex review with the SLT.
- Responsible for the procurement system chart of accounts, delegate of authority and links with the financial reporting system.
- Ensure financial controls are in place and understood by the business for capex spend, stock reporting, purchase cards and adhoc payments.
- Work with external parties to provide cost information as and when required.
- Responsible for coordination of external benchmarking
- Support budget holders with the budgeting and forecasting process ensuring completeness, consistency and understanding of year on year movements and variances
- Provide support and cover for the Management Accounting Team
- Building new processes and to continually improve those currently in place
What We're Looking For
- Fully qualified Accountant is essential
- Minimum 3 years post qualified experience
- Experience of working in a cost focussed role within a similar environment
- Experience of stock, GRNI and fixed asset reporting
- Ability to investigate and resolve variances
- Flexible approach to work, pro-active with an agile mindset
- Able to use own initiative, prioritise and multi task
- Good interpersonal, communication and listening skills
- Understanding or experience of working in a strong control environment
- Strong IT and systems skills, able to understand and make best use of site systems
- Experience of and proficiency in Financial and Microsoft office applications
