OLG Recruitment are currently looking for a Production Engineer for our client based in Immingham. This is a permanent role, which will be full time plant based. The hours of work will be 37.5 hours / Monday-Friday; 7:00am 3:30pm. There will be no flexibility to work from home for this role.

Job Purpose:

The Production Engineer is responsible for optimizing production processes, ensuring high product quality, and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) in the plasterboard production facility. This role involves conducting daily process checks, managing improvement projects, guiding shopfloor personnel, designing mechanical parts, and performing data analysis to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. The Production Engineer plays a critical role in enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the Health and Safety policies and procedures, also UK HSE laws, regulations to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
  • Maintain high standards of Health and Safety, Quality and security in the work environment, ensuring compliance with ISO and standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and checks of production processes to ensure smooth operation and adherence to quality standards.
  • Oversee short and mid-term projects aimed at meeting and exceeding production KPIs related to efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to shopfloor personnel, ensuring best practices are followed and operational issues are promptly addressed.
  • Conduct regular process reviews and recommend further adjustments as needed
  • Design and draw small-scale mechanical parts required for process improvements and equipment modifications.
  • Lead and execute continuous improvement and Statistical Process Control (SPC) projects on the production line to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, uncover inefficiencies, and develop actionable insights for process enhancements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, engineering, and production management, to drive cohesive and effective process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Able to manage simultaneous projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Great problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with and influence others in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with working hours.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP applications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent within a scientific or engineering discipline or relevant level experience.
  • Professional experience in plasterboard production or other production experience that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Will consider a post-grad (salary will differ due to experience), will also consider someone with 1-2 years experience
  • Requirement: BSc in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering / equivalent
