Our client has been a leader in advanced system integration for decades; optimising efficiency & delivering performance on a massive scale within the Nuclear sector.

They currently require a Technical Author to join their team based in Reading and support on a variety of Electrical Engineering projects. Within this role, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation related to their electrical engineering projects. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering concepts and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, organize, and write user guides, manuals, and other technical documentation for electrical engineering projects. 
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technical staff to gather and interpret technical information.
  • Review and edit documentation for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to enhance the understanding of technical content.
  • Maintain a library of technical documentation and update it as necessary to reflect new developments and changes.
  • Ensure all documentation is accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Adhere to relevant document standards and regulations ensuring Life Time Quality records and kept up dated.
  • Will be site based 5 days a week working as part of a team on a critical contract.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in technical writing, preferably in the field of electrical engineering.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and terminology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using documentation software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and CAD tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or similar.
  • Experience with content management systems and technical communication tools.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electrical engineering documentation.
