Our client, a leading Accountancy Practice in the Inverness area, is looking to appoint an experienced Assistant Accountant. This is a busy and varied role with the opportunity for further personal and professional development within a highly supportive environment. This role would suit an individual with the drive to succeed in a collaborative team environment and to continue to develop their career with an expanding business.

Duties include

  • Preparation of statutory accounts including posting and reconciling sales and purchase invoices.
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Dealing with enquiries and providing advice and guidance to ensure best bookkeeping practice.
  • Collating accurate and up to date information.
  • Online submissions to HMRC
  • Communicating with a variety of internal and external contacts on a regular basis.
  • Daily use of accounting software systems as well as MS Office.


Person specification

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience within a practice accounting environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong IT skills including MS Office and experience in accounting software.
  • Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ability to undertake training and learn new skills, systems and procedures with ease.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to deal with clients and colleagues in a professional manner.
