Your new company

You will be working for a leading Tier 1 Contractor who has both a local and national presence. You will join them on a permanent basis and play a key role in the delivery of a major construction project in the Highlands. This organisation is a highly reputable construction company with a focus on delivering complex new build construction projects with a focus on quality and safety and which provides a real benefit to the local community. In your role as a Quantity Surveyor, you will join the organisation on a permanent basis and be based out of Inverness, working on projects locally.

Your new role

In your new role as a Quantity Surveyor you will play a key role in the management of the costs and budget of a multi-million-pound new build construction project. Initially, you will be involved in the procurement of subcontractors, seeking opportunities to maximise the best value and quality. You will use your skills built up in your career to analyse data, measure work completed by subcontractors, negotiate to achieve desired commercial returns and support your commercial manager with various commercial duties such as preparation of rates and bills of quantities. You will prepare monthly reports, play a key role in project progress meetings, work actively with the wider team to achieve desired commercial outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed

This role will see you work well as part of a team, communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and positively contribute to a culture of success in the team. In addition to strong interpersonal skills, you will have excellent IT skills where you will collate information and accurately manage subcontractor costs and variations. You will hold a degree in quantity surveying or similar and ideally be of a chartered status. Previous experience of working on large scale projects such as health, education, retail or defence would be of benefit. Your analytical skills, negotiation skills, decision-making and leadership skills will contribute to your success in this role.
