Senior Field Service Engineer
Location: Inverness
Hours: Monday - Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-3pm
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience.
I'm looking for a Senior Field Service Engineer with a keen interest in progressing into the Biomass sector. This opportunity is ideal for a technically minded individual who possesses a solid background in Commercial Plumbing & Heating and/or Commercial Electrical Industry, with biomass specific training provided by the company.
This role will be based in Inverness, however you will typically travel to site from your home location on a daily basis.
You will be responsible for the ongoing Planned & Re-active maintenance, day to day repairs and ensuring commercial biomass heating installations are maintained in line with legislative and contractual compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance on commercial heating systems, including pumps, control valves, pressurisation units, and associated mechanical/electrical components (control systems, fuel stores, augers, etc.).
- Quickly transition into the Biomass sector with bespoke training courses and hands-on workshops.
- Diagnose and resolve breakdowns and equipment failures efficiently, minimising downtime.
- Conduct servicing tasks to a high standard, maintaining compliance with legislative and contractual requirements.
- Keep detailed records of all work completed using company-provided tools, including a tablet and cloud-based asset management software.
- Deliver excellent customer service, liaising with clients onsite to build strong relationships.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- SNVQ (or equivalent) in Commercial Plumbing & Heating and/or Electrical Installation.
- A valid driving license.
- Minimum of 5 year's experience in a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and heating principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnostics.
- Hands-on experience with commercial heating systems.
- A proactive, solution-focused mindset with strong technical abilities.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
- Prior experience in the Biomass sector.
- Additional certifications in heating, plumbing, or electrical disciplines.
- Qualified in Oil/Gas Servicing (OFTEC / Gas Safe Modules).
