Orion Group is working with a leading infrastructure client at the forefront of delivering innovative and sustainable Energy projects across Scotland, to source an experience Senior Project Manager (Energy)



Job Description:

As a Senior Project Manager (Energy), you will leverage your extensive experience in delivering large complex sub-stations to lead the Civils and Building part of the ECI and the construction delivery stage of projects in the NE of Scotland and Central belt. You will be accountable for the successful delivery of 2 AC Sub-stations, overseeing all phases from initiation through to commissioning and handover. You will interface with colleagues across the business working on joint ventures and ensuring seamless project execution.



Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of large complex AC/HV Sub-stations projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Manage the entire project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Act as a change agent, providing leadership and inspiration to a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Interface with joint venture partners and various parts of the business.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with safe systems of work.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation, both verbally and in writing.
  • Develop and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Manage commercial aspects and project management communications.
  • Oversee performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.


Requirements:

Essential:

  • Proven track record of delivering AC/HV Sub-stations projects.
  • Experience with NEC contracts and commissioning.
  • Joint venture experience with other contractors/parts of the same business.
  • Proficient in implementing safe systems of work.
  • Strong understanding of standard forms of contracts.
  • Effective communication and team management skills.
  • Commercially astute with a solutions-based approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to perform under high-pressure situations.
  • Familiarity with CDE and BIM.

Desirable:

  • Experience with a variety of project types.
  • Membership in a professional management body (APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE).
  • Proficiency in O365.
  • Current driving license.
  • Participation in industry events.

Qualifications:

  • Formal qualification (BSc/MSc) in management/construction or equivalent experience.
  • APM PFQ/PMQ/PPQ certification.
  • CSCS and SMSTS or equivalent certification.
