Antony James Recruitment Ltd are delighted to be working with a dynamic retail disrupter in recruiting a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing daily financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software.

Duties

  • Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers and vendors.
  • Maintain, reconcile, and update financial records using Sage 50 accounting software.
  • Perform regular data entry tasks to ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Process VAT-related information, including checking monthly HMRC postponed VAT statements against the system.
  • Handle Sales/Purchase Ledger: Process sales and purchase ledger invoices and credit notes on Sage in GBP, EUR, and USD.
  • Assist with payroll functions: Process timesheets, complete payroll for up to 20 employees, issue contracts, and manage leavers through an external HR system. Administer the company pension scheme.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly profit and loss accounts and provide support to the Management Accounts process.
  • Collaborate with external accountants to support the preparation of Annual Accounts, ensuring all necessary adjustments are posted in the system.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal policies while maintaining high standards of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Provide general administrative support and assist with other finance-related tasks as needed.

Experience

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar finance-related role.
  • Familiarity with accounts payable processes and general bookkeeping best practices.
  • Proficient in using Sage 50 Accounts and Excel.
  • Strong data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail to maintain accuracy in financial records.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced office environment.
