Expanding practice in Ipswich has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with a strong design background.

You will be required to support junior staff, undertake and check design and assist with the expansion of a dedicated team working on multiple geotechnical schemes. This role offers the opportunity to assist with the future growth of this sector for the firm, as our client looks to shape and benefit the natural environment of future generations.

Requirements

  • A BSc or BEng from a Geology or Engineering background along with a postgraduate degree in a similar field (MEng, MSc)
  • Whilst having Chartered accreditation (CEng) from a relevant institution isn't required, it would be something desired
  • Proven experience working to a high level within the Geotechnical and Engineering space
  • Extensive understanding and experience in geotechnical design is a requirement - earthworks, soil, and rock slope, retaining structures, foundations, excavations, and ground improvement

Responsibilities

  • Possesses strong technical skills that can be applied to more intricate modelling projects
  • Proficient in producing precise and technically sound written reports based on the results of site investigations, analysis, and design recommendations, which can then be shared with clients and external stakeholders
  • Able to make contributions to projects by identifying issues and devising solutions
  • Should have prior experience conducting on-site inspections and investigations, which involve performing tests to assess soil characteristics such as strength, density, permeability, and compaction
  • Possesses the ability to train and enhance the technical abilities and performance of junior team members within the engineering department
