Chief Quantity Surveyor
Location:Suffolk with travel
Our client is a well-established, highly regarded, successful and profitable main contractor construction group primarily working with large blue-chip corporate customers in the retail, distribution / logistics and industrial space, on a repeat project basis.
With a profitable projected turnover this year of c.£40m the Board have the ambition to double this over the coming years; at present direct group headcount is c.80 with total team size, including sub-contractors, typically around 500.
They are now seeking to appoint a Chief QS, reflecting their desire for the business to continue growing profitably and delivering to the high, industry-leading, standards they are known for. This key position will be part of the company’s core management team reporting to the Group Board of Directors and will help to ensure this success.
The Role:
- Take ownership of all QS matters for the business
- Lead and mentor the existing QS team (all qualified) and recruit new employees as required
- Ensure a uniform approach toward project cost efficiency, elimination of waste and maximisation of project profits across the business
- Be part of the Bid team for consideration of final pricing and tender submissions
- Ensure timely month-end project reporting by all QSs, and that budgeted project margins are protected / improved upon and any exceptions identified and reacted to on a timely basis
Remuneration: Six figure remuneration - attractive upper percentile basic plus bonus, company car and benefits
Person Profile:
The successful individual will be:
- A credible and well-qualified QS with proven people management experience and aptitude
- Commercially astute
- Able to manage, maintain and balance the competing interests of various stakeholders
- A highly professional, team player
- Have some proven experience with projects related to Retail, Logistics / Distribution hubs, industrial etc
