Our client, a highly respected Housing Association, is seeking an experienced Rent Arrears Team Leader to manage and motivate their rent collection team, ensuring effective support for tenants and maintaining the financial health of the organization.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Rent Arrears team, ensuring the efficient collection of outstanding rent while providing support to tenants in financial difficulty.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce rent arrears, working closely with tenants to create payment plans and offer advice on income management.
  • Monitor and report on rent arrears performance, using data to identify trends and proactively address issues.
  • Work collaboratively with housing officers, financial inclusion teams, and external agencies to support vulnerable tenants and reduce the risk of eviction.
  • Ensure that all arrears management is in line with regulatory requirements and the housing associations policies.
  • Lead on court action when necessary, ensuring a sensitive and professional approach is taken with residents.
  • Provide training and guidance to the team to ensure they are equipped to handle complex arrears cases and provide excellent tenant support.

  • Proven experience in rent arrears management, ideally within a housing association or supported housing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of income recovery, welfare benefits, and tenancy law.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing a team to achieve collection targets and provide tenant support.
  • A compassionate yet firm approach, with the ability to handle challenging situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with tenants, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Good understanding of court procedures related to rent arrears and debt recovery.
