Swift Placements are working with a client base in Keighley who are looking to recruit for an Assistant Maintenance Manager. The Assistant Maintenance Manager will support the Maintenance Manager in overseeing the maintenance activities of the business operations. The role involves ensuring that all machinery, equipment, and systems are maintained to meet production, quality, and safety standards. The Assistant Maintenance Manager will also play a key role in managing the maintenance team, coordinating repair schedules, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.

The package:

This position is based around a 5-day week

Monday to Saturday

Salary on offer: £50,000 per annum Dependent on experience.

Hours of work: 7:00- 5:00pm equating to 48 hours per week.

Saturdays will be based on a rota system.

Covering two sites; Keighley and Grassington

A company pension scheme is also in place

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Management:

Assist in planning, scheduling, and overseeing all maintenance activities, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.

Coordinate and supervise the repair and maintenance of all production machinery, equipment, and infrastructure within the facility.

Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to ensure minimal downtime and extend equipment lifespan.

PLC Fault findings and interrogation to trace back faults.

Assisting and developing, implementing line improvements, new installations and offline repairs.

Ordering parts and inventory.

Covering for the manager in their absence.

Electrical repairs to motors, drivers, inverters, encoders, boards, wiring, switches, relays, contractors and sensors.

Team Leadership:

Support the Maintenance Manager in leading, training, and developing the maintenance team, ensuring a high level of technical competence and teamwork.

Delegate tasks to maintenance technicians, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and industry standards.

Conduct performance evaluations, offer feedback, and assist in recruitment processes as needed.

Operational Efficiency:

Assist in monitoring equipment performance and identifying opportunities for improvement to enhance production efficiency.

Collaborate with the production team to address any maintenance-related issues that could impact product quality or production timelines.

Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and hygiene standards during maintenance activities.

Provide electrical and mechanical maintenance to a range of machinery including shrink wrappers, conveyors, generators, chillers and bottling machinery.

Health and Safety:

Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all maintenance personnel.

Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance, preferably within the food production or manufacturing industry.

Experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a maintenance team is highly desirable.

Electrical qualification or willing to undertake training to gain qualification.

Electronics and PLC Fault finding experience.

MIG and TIG Welding experience.

Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, machinery repair, and preventive maintenance programs.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The role may require working in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on production schedules.
