Tax Manager (Compliance)

This unique role is responsible for ensuring this multi-faceted organisation's compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting requirements, safeguarding financial integrity, minimizing risks, and optimising tax processes. The Tax & Compliance Manager reports into the Head of Tax and collaborates with internal stakeholders and external partners, particularly HMRC, to ensure smooth financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. VAT and Tax Reporting:
    • Compile and submit quarterly UK VAT returns, ensuring monthly and quarterly VAT payments are made on time.
    • Handle VAT refunds and manage EU OSS VAT returns for the organisation's streaming sales, calculating foreign VAT rates.
    • Prepare and audit P11d transactions for payroll, as well as annual PSA transaction reporting.
  2. International and Retail Tax:
    • Manage Intrastat and ESL reports for international sales and purchases, including retail operations and goods purchases.
    • Oversee the organisation's plastic bag tax returns and ensure proper application of the EU Reverse Charge Mechanism in VAT reporting.
  3. Payroll and Banking:
    • Approve monthly payroll reports and submit attendance data after events to relevant stakeholders.
    • Serve as the main contact for HMRC and banks.
    • Handle foreign currency needs, BACS payments, and act as an authorised signatory for online payments and payroll processing.
  4. System Administration:
    • Administer banking systems BACS processing, and HMRC online reporting tools, ensuring proper system management for financial operations.
  5. Governing Body and Compliance:
    • Submit reports to governing bodies, including fees and returns for major events.
    • Participate in IR35 compliance reviews for employment tax purposes and manage property rating issues with external advisors.
  6. Other Duties:
    • Manage document retention and perform any other tasks as requested by management, maintaining a strong commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
