We are seeking an experienced Accounts and Audit Senior to enhance our client’s team in their modern offices situated along the A43 corridor between Kettering and Corby. The ideal candidate will possess 4-5 years of practice experience, particularly in audit, accounting, taxation, management information, and statutory compliance. A strong background in auditing is crucial for this role.

Position Details:

  • Location: Kettering
  • Office Environment: Contemporary office space with full air conditioning
  • Parking: Off-road parking available on-site
  • Remote Working: Primarily office/client-based, with remote work options considered for specific circumstances at the partners' discretion
  • Salary: £40,000-£48,000 (negotiable) based on experience, with an annual review each January
  • Benefits: 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, including a 30-minute lunch break
  • Training Opportunities: The firm is an ICAEW Authorised Training Employer and an ACCA Approved Employer with Platinum level status for Trainee Development and Audit Practising Certificate Development

Role Overview:

This role involves a balanced mix of accounts and audit responsibilities, with an approximate division of 60% accounts and 40% audit. The firm services a variety of clients, ranging from small owner-managed enterprises to medium-sized groups with turnovers reaching £55 million.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial statements and business/corporation tax computations for a diverse portfolio, primarily focusing on small limited companies, as well as sole traders and partnerships
  • Communicate with clients to gather information and address queries for account and tax preparation
  • Prepare VAT returns and management accounts
  • Conduct audits of financial statements from planning through to completion, ensuring readiness for manager review
  • Supervise junior staff on audit assignments, including task assignment, oversight, and review of audit work
  • Provide training and support to team members as needed

Ideal Candidate:

  • Solid practice experience encompassing all facets of audit, accounting, taxation, management information, and statutory compliance
  • ACA or ACCA qualified (full study support can be provided for the right candidate to complete their qualifications)
  • Capable of independently managing audit assignments from the outset
  • Experience preparing accounts for owner-managed small to medium businesses, including statutory financial statements
  • Flexible and proactive in handling multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with clients in person, over the phone, and via email
  • Proficient in IT, particularly with a strong working knowledge of Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all work produced
  • Demonstrated initiative in problem-solving
  • Willingness to travel to clients’ premises as needed
