Enforcement Officer

Rate of Pay: £30-£35 per hour (via umbrella company)

Job Description:As an Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for investigating alleged breaches of planning control. You will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure planning enforcement is carried out in accordance with adopted policies and procedures. Key tasks include site investigations, preparing reports, negotiating resolutions, and assisting with legal actions as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate breaches of planning control through site inspections and case reviews.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management and committees.
  • Implement enforcement actions and serve notices in collaboration with the legal department.
  • Provide guidance to involved parties and ensure updates on case progress.
  • Monitor compliance with planning conditions and take necessary actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of cases, complaints, and enforcement actions.
  • Attend committee meetings, public hearings, and court appearances as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • GCSE Grade A-C in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
  • Experience managing caseloads and working under pressure.
  • Valid driving licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Further education in Planning or Investigative practices.
  • Experience in planning enforcement or public service roles, particularly within local authorities.
  • Experience with planning software and databases.
