A client within the Public Sector based in East Midlands currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to join their Planning Policy team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a planning environment.The RoleKey purpose of the role to support the development and implementation of planning policy, contribute to place-shaping projects, and assist in maintaining a sound evidence base for policy and guidance, with responsibilities across the Planning Policy function.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Assisting in the development of planning policy and guidance through research, consultation, and formal adoption processes.
  • Undertaking data analysis and research to inform policy decisions and support Local Plan objectives.
  • Preparing statements and representing the Council at hearings, inquiries and consultations.
The CandidateTo be considered for this role you will require:
  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification that enables future access to Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Understanding of the English Planning System.
  • Good communication and report writing skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and travel across the Council’s administrative area.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Experience with computerised planning systems and GIS.
  • Knowledge of current planning legislation and policy practices.
  • Ability to carry out outdoor site visits and contribute to public engagement events.
