Technical Lead - Footwear required for a leading test and research organisation based in Kettering, Northamptonshire. This well-established and respected company provide specialist laboratory and testing services to a range of industry sectors within the UK and worldwide.

The Technical Lead - Footwear will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of Technologists and Technicians working within the Footwear Testing team to ensure compliance and quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Daily supervision of Technicians including team performance management (including appraisals, disciplinaries and grievance matters)
  • Managing workflow with emphasis on customer focus and customer awareness
  • Working with Technicians to establish deadlines and allocate jobs fairly
  • Ensuring effective implementation of quality systems working alongside the Quality Manager and Health & Safety Advisor
  • Developing continuous improvement initiatives with both individuals and systems
  • Establishing and monitoring KPIs
  • Discussing results and new work with customers
  • Routine drafting / sending of reports and responding to customer emails
  • Meeting customers and presenting seminars
  • Contributing to the writing of technical articles for internal and external publication
  • Overseas travel when required

Essential:

  • Educated to A-Level in Maths or Science
  • Familiar with physical testing techniques
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Supervisory experience
  • Customer facing experience
  • Confident presenter
  • Excellent time management and scheduling skills
  • Ability to work on own and as part of a team
  • Highly motivated with problem solving and logical thinking skills
  • Willingness to travel when required

Desirable:

  • Completion of SAFT course or working towards completion
  • Degree in Maths or Science
  • Experience within a commercial environment
  • Full, clean Driver’s Licence
  • Experience of direct Sales and Marketing with exposure to business development tools and techniques
  • Footwear industry experience
