Due to continued success and pending retirement, a head office location of a global manufacturing organisation has an exciting opportunity for a Service Manager to join them as a succession plan to replace their well established Service Manager. You will provide day to day management support to a team of Field Service Engineers and internal Service Administrators, reporting directly to the Technical Director:

  • Answer and respond to all Customer enquiries in relation their product service plan, and breakdown alerts via telephone, email and online platforms
  • Gaining information from Customers to fault find and diagnose (1st line support) where possible
  • Geographically plan and coordinate Field Service Engineers diaries, with schedule annual service visits as well as prioritising Customer breakdown needs (through the UK and Europe)
  • Arranging travel requirements and accommodation for Field Service Engineers
  • Estimating and quoting costing to Customer prior to the work being undertook by the Field Service Engineer, obtaining quotations from suppliers for parts needed
  • Raising PO Numbers, and provide information required to the Finance Team to enable the raise of invoices for Customers
  • Prepare and distribute all paperwork required for each job, to ensure audit trace-ability
  • Supporting Field Services Engineers prior to customer site visit, during if needed, and debrief after each job
  • Updating internal CRM system with Field Service Engineers actions during visit, and arrange a diary reminded for following years service

We would expect the successful Service Manager to be able to demonstrate the ability to work well in a busy reactive environment, have excellent communication skills. Have an inquisitive nature, and be able to fact find in a time effective manner via telephone and email, to be able to provide technical support to both Customers and Engineers. You will be support 1 to 1 by the current Service Manager to become familiar with the companies policies and procedures, as well as attending site visits and spending time with the Engineers (for first three months - regular travel required). This would be an ideal role for you if you have worked withing service management, warranty management or technical support management position. We are also keen to hear from candidates who are keen to progress their career from a supervisory or assistant management role.

Working directly with the Technical Director, this role offers variety on a daily basis.
