Health and Safety Manager - Environment & Quality (HSQE) - Renewable Energy

Location: Remote (70%) with travel (30%) and two office visits per month in Oxfordshire

Salary: £70,000

About the Role

An industry-leading energy company is seeking a Health and Safety Manager HSQE to join its Operations Team. This senior role will be responsible for driving a positive safety culture across the organisation, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and leading change management initiatives. The company operates multiple power generation sites across the UK, including battery storage, gas, and renewable energy projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced health and safety leader to make a significant impact in a fast-growing energy company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Responsible Person for all health and safety matters across the organisation.
  • Develop and implement health, safety, and wellbeing policies in line with legal and industry standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).
  • Lead a safety culture change programme across the organisation.
  • Provide guidance and strategic direction on effective health and safety management.
  • Monitor, evaluate and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits and incident investigations.
  • Oversee health and safety training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Work closely with HR on employee wellbeing initiatives, including mental health first aid.
  • Manage and mentor a Health & Safety Officer to maintain ISO management systems.

Requirements

  • Experience in the power generation or energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to lead, influence and drive safety culture improvements.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH).
  • Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel to sites across the UK.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of battery storage and solar systems.
  • Experience managing ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Management qualification.
