Senior Quantity Surveyor – Life Sciences / Education New Build
Oxford | Permanent | Up to £85,000 + Car Allowance + Package

A leading UK main contractor with a £1bn+ turnover is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to commercially lead a high-profile new build life sciences or education scheme in Oxford.

Known for delivering complex, high-value projects across a range of sectors, this contractor offers the stability, structure, and resources of a national business — paired with the opportunity to make a genuine impact at project level.

The Project:

You’ll be joining during the early phases of a major new build scheme in the Oxford area, either in the life sciences or higher education sector. Projects typically range from £30m to £60m+, involving high-spec design, sustainable construction methods, and cutting-edge technical requirements.

The Role:

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take commercial ownership of the project from pre-construction through to final account, managing procurement, cost reporting, risk, and value engineering alongside a collaborative site team.

You’ll report directly to a Regional Commercial Manager and have the support of project QSs as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience as a Senior QS on £20m+ new build projects

• Background with a Tier 1 or large regional main contractor

• Sector experience in life sciences, education, healthcare, or similarly complex schemes

• Strong understanding of JCT contracts and cost management processes

• Excellent communication, reporting, and client-facing skills

• Able to work from site in Oxford with occasional regional office travel
