We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Communications and Engagement Officer to join Thames Valley Police on a 1 year fixed term contract, working out of their headquarters in Kidlington Oxfordshire.

In this role you will provide effective communication between the Office of the OPCC (Police and Crime Commissioner), TVP Communities and Partner Agencies by creating and implementing communications / engagement plans

The successful candidate will be adept at media management, crisis communications, event management, public engagement and have a proven track record with big hitting campaigns. You will also have knowledge and experience of public and stakeholder engagement practices and techniques and be able to assess their effectiveness and value. You will have a nationally recognised qualification or equivalent relevant experience in communications, public relations or journalism together with experience of organising and managing such activities in a complex working environment.

It is essential you have good IT skills including Microsoft Office with the ability to develop and maintain web pages as well as experience of working in digital and social media. Previous experience of senior management decision making is needed along with the ability and experience to interpret and communicate complex issues and information to a non-technical audience.

We want someone who is flexible, given that some events are in the evenings and weekends, and who is happy to travel across the Thames Valley as and when needed, requiring a full UK driving licence.
