A leading engineering business involved in the maintenance and repair of light rail stock is recruiting a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their team.Operating from a depot in Kilmarnock, they provide mobile services to the rail industry.THE ROLE:This is a ‘hands on’ role, the where you will be responsible for carrying out fault finding and preventative maintenance on buildings, plant, and equipment. This will include:
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues as they arise.
  • Read and interpret schematics to understand system layouts and components.
  • Supervise maintenance staff, providing guidance and leadership in daily tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and improve processes.
Hours are 7.30am - 4.30pm Monday - Thursday, 7.30am - 1.30pm Friday.KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose issues effectively.
  • Ability to complete remedial repair work in line with statutory and legal requirements.
  • Proficiency in electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with reading schematics and technical drawings.
  • A time served apprentice trained with industrial experience (medium to heavy industrial plant and equipment) with formal qualifications (Level 3 City and Guilds, 18th Edition or equivalent)
  • Driving Licence (essential)
  • Experience and training for working at height (essential)
  • MEWPS licence (essential)
