Deputy Ward Manager- Private, Low Secure Mental Health Hospital In Haslemere, Surrey

£45,864-£50,232 basic annual salary.

3 x 12 hour shifts one week, and 4 x 12 hours the next, alternating.

Must have valid NMC PIN (PRN Number is not acceptable)- RMN or RGN.

Accommodation can be provided in some circumstances.

There is NO Visa sponsorship with this role and NO applications from outside the UK (unless you have UK Pin).

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Ward Manager in maximising affective management and utilisation of available ward manpower and resources that is clinically effective and financially viable. 
  • Work with the Ward Manager in ensuring that completed duty rotas are respected and adhered to by all ward staff team members and that requested alteration of rostered duties are managed by the Ward Manager and by the Deputy Ward Manager in prolonged absence of the former.
  • Work full duty shifts alongside and opposite the ward staff nurses nurturing and monitoring communication effectiveness within duty shift teams and between Day duty shift and Night duty shift with emphasis on ward handover.
  • Work with the Ward Manager in ensuring that all patients have up-to-date risk assessments and care plans which address all aspects of need and they are regularly reviewed and evaluated. 
  • Work with the Ward Manager in ensuring that in Care Planning and Care Plan Review that there is clear documented demonstration that service users involvement has been maximised and failure to get this involvement because of capacity factors or other factors is clearly demonstrated in detail.
  • Work with the Ward Manager in ensuring there is compliance with the clinical audit program and that resulting action plans are formulated and actioned.
  • Work with the Ward Manager in ensuring all adverse and serious untoward incidents (SUI) are properly reported and the lessons learnt from review of SUI is communicated effectively to all staff team members with necessary actions taken.
  • With the Ward Manager to facilitate advocacy services to meet patients needs.
  • With Ward Manager delegation, in the latter’s absence attend hospital Senior Management Team meetings and Bed Management meetings on their behalf.
  • Participate in Group Management Supervision Sessions organised by the Ward Manager and facilitate and manage these sessions in the absence of the Ward Manager.
  • Attend and participate in regular group management supervision sessions alongside the Ward Manager and Senior Staff Nurse facilitated and managed by the General Manager.

Candidates will be required to have a ‘live’ NMC pin.
