A privately owned, award-winning business is entering an exciting phase of growth both in the United Kingdom and internationally. As part of this expansion, the Directors are looking to appoint a commercially driven Head of Finance, a role that will evolve into that of a Commercial Director, playing a key role in shaping the future of the business. You will have experience in a business-to-business environment and ideally product based such as retail.

Is This You?

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent ) looking for an exciting role which embraces all of the company not just finance.
  • Currently operating as a finance manager, commercial manager, or head of finance within a fast-growing, owner-managed business.

  What You Will Be Doing:

Strategic leadership and growth:

  • Work closely with the Managing Director to drive commercial decision-making and business strategy.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and sophisticated financial modelling to support growth.
  • Play a key role in the implementation of a new accounting system, streamlining financial processes.

Financial control and reporting:

  • Oversee the production of statutory accounts and act as the main liaison with auditors.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end financial reporting.
  • Improve financial controls and reporting processes to support business expansion.
  • Ensuring efficient stock management and re-ordering processes.

Commercial decision-making and operational oversight:

  • Provide insight into core profit drivers, working with teams to deliver meaningful management information.
  • Lead projects such as reviewing the profitability of different operations, contracts, and business units.
  • Oversee non-finance areas where relevant to ensure optimal business success.

People, relationships, and external engagement:

  • Supervise and mentor finance and non-finance staff as needed in a growing business.
  • Build strong relationships with banks, external suppliers, and commercial partners.
  • Support the Directors in key financial and operational discussions.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience working in an owner-managed, entrepreneurial business.
  • Strong financial controls experience and excellent IT skills.
  • A retail background or business to business
  • Hands-on commercial experience, including contract and profitability analysis.
  • Confidence leading on projects such as system implementation and process improvement.
  • A strong communicator who can influence and work effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
  • A proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, growing business.
