An exciting opportunity has arisen at a leading law firm close to Kingston-upon-Thames for an experienced Private Client lawyer to step into a Head of Department role, with the prospect of partnership. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a high-performing team and manage a diverse portfolio of private client matters.

About the role:

  • Case Management: Lead and oversee case management for all client matters, ensuring timely, efficient, and high-quality legal work is completed. Regularly assess case strategies, identify risks, and ensure all cases are progressing as planned.
  • Lead the Department: Take charge of the Private Client department, overseeing the smooth running of day-to-day operations, ensuring high standards of legal service delivery.
  • Drive Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining and developing strong, lasting relationships with clients.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, build lasting client relationships, and represent the firm at networking events and industry conferences.
  • Mentorship: Mentoring and support junior lawyers and support staff to enhance the team’s technical skills and business acumen.
  • Strategic Influence: Contribute to the firm’s overall strategic planning, supporting growth initiatives and new service offerings.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified Solicitor or FCILEX with in-depth experience in Private Client services (Wills, Probate, Trusts, LPA, Court of Protection).
  • Proven leadership ability and a track record of managing and developing teams.
  • A passion for business development and building client relationships.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage complex legal matters while providing strategic advice.
  • A collaborative approach with a focus on delivering outstanding client care.
