Underwriting Team Leader

Dudley- Hybrid

£45,000 per annum

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of underwriters to achieve business targets.
  • Foster a positive and high-performing team culture with a strong focus on accountability and results.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews, offering guidance and providing feedback.
  • Drive the team to secure new business in line with the underwriting appetite and strategy.
  • Monitor and analyse team performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement new business strategies.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with brokers to maximise new business opportunities.
  • Support the team in negotiating and securing new business.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and responsiveness to broker inquiries.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to improve underwriting processes and efficiency's.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite.
  • Report on team performance and key business metrics to the Underwriting Service Manager.

Skills:

  • Proven experience leading a team within a underwriting or insurance environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Results-driven mindset with a track record of achieving and exceeding targets.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, particularly with brokers and stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of the UK insurance market.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills to drive performance improvements.
  • Ability to make recommendations to improve underwriting processes and efficiencies.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
