About the School:We are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded secondary school in Dudley, known for its commitment to academic excellence and fostering a supportive learning environment. The school is dedicated to ensuring that every student reaches their full potential and values the importance of accurate data management and attendance tracking in achieving this goal.

The Role:As the Data and Attendance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the school’s administrative functions by managing student data and attendance records. You will work closely with the senior leadership team, teachers, and administrative staff to ensure that data is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with statutory requirements. Your work will directly contribute to the school’s ability to monitor student progress and implement effective interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the school’s Management Information System (MIS), ensuring all student data is accurate and current.
  • Monitor daily attendance and punctuality, identifying and addressing any issues in collaboration with pastoral teams.
  • Generate attendance reports and statistical data for analysis by the senior leadership team.
  • Liaise with parents and carers to address attendance-related concerns and provide support where necessary.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory returns and other data submissions to the local authority and Department for Education (DfE).
  • Provide administrative support for school assessments, exams, and reporting cycles.
  • Work closely with the safeguarding team to monitor and track vulnerable students.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of MIS systems, particularly SIMS or a similar platform.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
