Description

North Yorkshire Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Children's Social Worker to join our Child Protection & Court Team. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of children while working in a strength-based way with families to help them thrive.

You will be responsible for managing complex child protection cases, working within a well-defined systemic practice model that incorporates Signs of Safety and Family Seeing Methodology. This is an opportunity to be part of a collaborative and supportive team, making a real difference in the lives of children and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex child protection and care proceedings cases, ensuring effective planning and interventions.
  • Work directly with children and families to support them in achieving safe and positive outcomes.
  • Prepare and present high-quality reports for court proceedings, case conferences, and statutory reviews.
  • Use a strength-based approach to assess risks and develop intervention strategies.
  • Work closely with multi-agency partners, including schools, health services, and legal teams, to safeguard children.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records and ensure compliance with child care legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to a supportive team environment, participating in supervision, training, and reflective practice.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England (without annotations or restrictions).
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in child welfare, including extensive experience in child protection and court work.
  • Skills: Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of childcare legislation, safeguarding procedures, and systemic practice models.
  • Other Requirements:Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for this role).
