Business Development Manager - Commercial Real Estate Finance

Our client is a well-established specialist bank and a major player in the provision of financing solutions for the acquisition of commercial property.

As a pivotal member of the commercial lending team, you will spearhead the origination and execution of commercial investment, specialist sector, and property development loan applications from inception through to completion. Your expertise will drive the seamless management of broker and case pipelines, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for all parties involved.

You will report into the Head of Commercial Real Estate the responsibilities include:

  • Development of broker and direct to bank borrower relationships.
  • Originate new business, typically c.£3m-£50m per transaction, from direct or introduced sources in order to meet agreed personal new business targets.
  • Completing due diligence on loan applications adopting robust credit assessment skills to recommend the basis on which risk is taken.
  • Negotiation of terms to secure transaction mandate aligned to risk appetite and required returns.
  • To prepare and submit new business files to credit committee, ensuring that they meet the required company standard and contain the information required, allowing the underwriter(s) to assess the proposal quickly and accurately
  • Oversee, in conjunction with support staff, the draw down process to ensure offered facilities are drawn as smoothly and quickly as possible.

We are keen to receive applications from experienced real estate finance sales professional with the following:

  • Experience in the origination and execution of Property Development finance loans.
  • Experience in the origination and execution of the Commercial Mortgage loans, with knowledge of financing commercial and residential investment loans as well as operating businesses to include but not limited to: Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Healthcare, Industrial, Retail and Hotels.
  • The ability to assess complex lending proposals, identify risks and structure/ negotiate debt solutions, aligned to risk appetite.
  • The ability to prepare high quality lending submissions, ensuring all key risks are identified and mitigated.
  • The ability to present new business proposals to senior stakeholders in risk/credit forums.
  • A good understanding of post approval processes to ensure due diligence is completed as required to facilitate an efficient customer journey and loan completion.
