The Church of England are recruiting a Regional Safeguarding Lead for the North-West of England. The Church of England is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and is seeking a dedicated Regional Safeguarding Lead to join the National Safeguarding Team (NST). This role is instrumental in supporting safeguarding practice across dioceses and cathedrals, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable adults.

The successful candidate will be a key figure in implementing safeguarding standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the Church.

  • Regional Safeguarding Lead
  • North West (covering the Diocese of Liverpool, Chester and Carlisle
  • 21hrs/week over 3 days
  • £39,711 (FTE salary £66,186 based on 35hrs/week)

Day to Day of the role:

  • Provide professional supervision to Safeguarding Officers in dioceses and cathedrals using the 4x4x4 integrated/restorative model of supervision.
  • Encourage a culture of curiosity and reflective practice to understand safeguarding cases and their personal impact on those involved.
  • Offer advice and guidance on individual cases and safeguarding-related situations.
  • Support continuous professional development within the safeguarding community.
  • Lead regional networks of safeguarding professionals, facilitating joint initiatives and sharing best practices.
  • Work closely with senior managers and clergy to represent the NST at the local level and ensure Church-wide consistency in approach.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in a specialist safeguarding area, acting as a point of contact within the NST.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in case worker lead responsibility for safeguarding children and/or vulnerable adults.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding research and evidence-based practice models.
  • Experience providing professional supervision in safeguarding contexts.
  • Strategic level experience, influencing decision-making and implementation.
  • Expertise in working with and engaging victims and survivors.
  • Proven ability to lead organisational change for improved outcomes.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Professional qualification or equivalent experience relevant to safeguarding.
