Materials Science and Innovation Manager

Lancashire (commutable from Liverpool, Bolton, Preston and surrounding areas)

Salary - 60,000 - 70,000 (depending on experience)

SRG is working with a leading UK manufacturer of high spec materials and composite products. Based in the Southwest Lancashire area, they have recently started hiring for a senior manager on their team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced materials scientist in the offshore sector. You will join a growing team in a fast-moving lab environment with a wide range of specialist materials testing equipment. Applications welcome from experienced professionals in the materials sector. Previous people management experience and access to a car will be needed for this role.

Role Description

  • Managing the innovation and development of new material technologies
  • Managing an expert team of materials scientists, developing their skills and setting their targets
  • Working with experimental detail to tweak and improve on specialist products
  • Liaising with suppliers of raw materials and managing customer projects
  • Working with customers to design programmes that fulfil their needs
  • Using specialist tools such as Six Sigma for product development

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or a relevant Engineering discipline
  • A strong knowledge of the materials industry (preferably within offshore products)
  • Recent management experience of more junior members of staff
  • Ability to travel or relocate to the South Lancashire area.
  • Experience within polymer formulation or materials development would be an advantage.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
