Job Purpose:

To facilitate the efficient manufacture of products, whilst constantly looking at methods or procedures to reduce labour cost by efficient time management of staff without compromising quality. To ensure all products leaving the workshop are made, finished and operating to the highest possible standard. To plan, facilitate and supervise the work of the team assigned to the area whilst encouraging a team environment by recognising the strengths of that team and using them to their advantage.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Team Leader

 

  • To lead the efficient manufacture of any given product
  • To plan work loadings, with respect to the team and required outcomes
  • On time delivery with materials and time as per schedule
  • To proactively monitor work loadings to achieve given milestones.
  • Suggest improvement initiatives supported to eliminate inefficiencies and rework. (Aim is to achieve zero defects)
  • Drive culture of continuous improvement and actively support staff to buy into this, set the right culture for efficient working
  • Good communication skills with staff and customers in a polite and professional manner

 

Metrics of the Team Leader

  • Ensure that production meets all quality standards, IPC, build specs where given. If not supplied then work with engineering to create build documents
  • Evidence of efficient daily/weekly scheduling, times for products and deliveries achieved
  • Actual production hours are consistent with planned hours
  • Manage labour efficiently to agreed build times and be responsible for the results of the team
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions

 

Qualifications & Experience of the Team Leader

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Soldering experience preferably to IPC standards
  • Experience in mechanical assembly is advantageous
  • PC literate
