This role sits within the Powertrain Charging Systems team, in the Charging Validation & Verification organisational unit. The focus will be on delivering data from tests to support design release activity or technology advancement of electric vehicle charging infrastructure compatibility. The key outcome is to help create a modern luxury seamless & stress-free charging experience for our customers.
Job Title: Automotive Interoperability Systems Engineer
Location:- Coventry, Warwickshire
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify compatibility issues between our cars and charging stations using data visualisation tools (i.e., Tableau, JIRA, XRay).
- Lead the problem-solving process for compatibility issues with the support of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Test Engineers.
- Contribute to the team's FMA tracker (Failure Mode Avoidance) to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Build knowledge around Charging Stations OEM and their product development.
- Work towards improving our future electric vehicles at a software and electronics level.
- Support preparation of test facilities and/or test parts to enable effective and timely data delivery.
- Offer technical advice and guidance on data collection and measurement.
- Execute commissioning and acceptance testing of measurement equipment.
- Conduct studies regarding fault rectification to ensure minimum down-time.
- Support continuous improvement activities to enhance test efficiency and product quality.
- Ensure positive outcomes from audits (e.g., TS16949, OHSAS18001, ISO 14001).
- Undertake any other work as directed by the line manager.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or related field, or equivalent.
Essential Skills:
* Eagerness to learn about Electric Vehicle Charging.
* Experience in studying and reporting test data.
* Natural problem-solver with a structured approach.
* Ability to validate, prepare, and read documentation.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety processes.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualification, and a 2-year accident-free record.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Results-driven with tenacity, drive, and perseverance.
* Capability to combine short-term focus with medium-term planning.
* Resilient and enthusiastic, responding constructively to new ideas.
* Strong communication, organisational, and planning skills.
Desired Skills:
* Awareness of existing charging standards (e.g., CCS / COMBO, DIN 70121, ISO15118).
* Six Sigma, Black Belt, and Green Belt Training and certification.
* Experience with IATF16949 or ISO9001 standards.
* Certification for conducting testing on proving grounds.
* Knowledge of instrument calibration processes.
* Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (C/C++, Python, Java, or similar).
* Demonstrable software integration knowledge.
* Experience with vehicle charging systems and applications.
* Knowledge of electronic hardware design and testing.
