As a Specialist Nurse, you will need the following:
- Current NMC registration with no restrictions on practice
- Registered nurse with experience of assessing and diagnosing ADHD
- Independent Non-Medical Prescribing (V300) qualification
- Relevant experience of ADHD treatment and medication management
- Consultant level or experienced non-training grade with demonstrable interest and experience in behavioural / neuro-developmental conditions
- A clear Enhanced DBS
- Outstanding communication skills both in spoken and written
- Outstanding empathy and intuition

- Meticulous attention to detail where patients and their care are concerned
- Strong team player with both professional and administrative colleagues used to operating in a level playing field and demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively with others, supporting them where possible
What the post involves:
You will be responsible for undertaking ADHD assessments, symptom control consultations and ADHD reviews for children and young people. Duties include:
- Assessing children and young people for ADHD, considering differential and/co-occurring conditions to make diagnostic decisions
- Carrying out a full appropriate examination including growth parameters and cardiac examination
- Using clinical judgement and experience to apply appropriate medical plans
- Formulating and implementing plans for the treatment and medication of patients using NICE guidelines in line with national/local formularies
- Writing informative, accurate and professional medical reports to be completed within expected timeframes
- Complete risk assessments and review safeguarding needs alongside treatment strategies during ongoing patient care
- Providing regular medication reviews for children and young people
- Administration of shared care agreements, individual medication plans and liaison with administrative team regarding clinic follow up
- Use independent prescribing skills and knowledge to complete health assessments, initiate medication and titrate dosage
- Accessing regular clinical supervision
- Attending regular practice and clinicians meetings
Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 per year, depending upon experience. Hours: Ideally full-time at 37.5 hours per week, or part-time.
Location: Leamington Spa (x1 or 2 days per week may be required in Stratford Upon Avon).
