Semi-Senior Accountant (Progression to Partner)

A rapidly expanding, commercially focussed Accountancy Firm in is seeking a dedicated and ambitious Semi-Senior Accountant to join their growing team.

This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to progress to Partner level over time, while contributing to the delivery of high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse client portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management: Act as a key point of contact for clients, delivering proactive and professional advice. Address client queries, manage deadlines, and ensure timely provision of financial data.
  • Support Senior Accountants & Managers: Collaborate on complex accounting tasks and audits, and assist with ad-hoc projects and advisory work under the guidance of senior colleagues
  • Statutory Accounts Preparation: Prepare annual accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies in accordance with UK GAAP. Assist in drafting management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Bookkeeping & VAT Compliance: Manage bookkeeping for multiple clients, maintaining accurate financial records. Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations.
  • Tax Compliance & Planning: Support the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns, and identify potential tax planning opportunities to recommend to senior management.
  • Software Utilisation: Use accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage to manage financial data. Assist in transitioning clients to cloud-based platforms and provide necessary training and support.
  • Compliance & Best Practices: Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and legislation (e.g., MTD tax changes). Ensure all work adheres to legal requirements and professional standards.

Person Specification:

  • Part-qualified or qualified (AAT, ACCA, ACA), or qualified by experience.
  • Strong experience in an accountancy practice, handling a variety of clients.
  • Solid knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and tax compliance.
  • Proficiency in cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.) and Microsoft Office suite.
