Description
The key duties for this position are as followed:
- Provide management accounting support within the UEC/PC portfolio finance team for a range of non acute contracts with urgent and emergency care and planned care providers.
- Assist in delivery of the monthly reporting requirements with strict adherence to reporting deadlines/timescales.
- Liaise with contract managers and commissioners to ensure invoices are paid on a timely basis.
- Provide appropriate financial analysis to support decision making and business understanding.
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
- Developing and maintaining cost accounting procedures
- Analysing financial performance and contributing to medium and long-term business planning
- Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards
- Providing management with reports that aid in decision-making
- Collaborating with external auditors to ensure audits are completed timely and efficiently
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Profile
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Previous NHS Experience is a MUST
- Extensive experience in the month end process preferably with SBS Oracle. This should include calculating accruals, posting journals, creating forecasts and producing budget holder reports.
- Experience in challenging ways of working and influence others to realign their practice where necessary
- A strong understanding of Cost per Case contracts and in particular Payment by Results (PbR) Currency.
- Be able to identify, communicate and manage key risks highlighting the appropriate actions and mitigations to be acted upon
- Work independently and have accountability for their own work area
- Experience in line management to oversee the work of 1x band 5.
- Strong Excel skills required
- The ability to drive best practice at organisational and departmental levels
