Estates Manager

Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Ashford, Surrey.

Role Purpose

  • Oversee the daily management and maintenance of the school facilities to ensure a safe and efficient learning environment for students and staff.
  • Manage site safety, security, and health compliance to ensure the school complies with all regulations and standards.
  • Lead and supervise the estates team, ensuring high standards of site maintenance, cleanliness, and resource management.

Main Duties

  • Manage and supervise caretakers, grounds staff, and cleaning contractors to ensure the school is well-maintained.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify health and safety risks, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee maintenance, repairs, and cleaning schedules to ensure the school grounds and buildings are safe and operational.
  • Act as the Fire Safety Officer, ensuring all fire safety equipment is properly installed, maintained, and compliant.
  • Monitor energy and water usage to optimize efficiency and reduce waste across the school site.
  • Manage budgets and liaise with contractors, ensuring all work is completed within financial constraints and at the best value.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance, repairs, and safety checks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Requirements

  • Facilities or estates management experience
  • Relevant qualification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH).
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Clean driving license
  • Able to pass a DBS check
  • No previous convictions
