Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are working with a leading housebuilder, and they have asked Alexander Associates to invite applications for the position of QS/Senior Quantity Surveyor.

As a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will carry out the day-to-day commercial tasks such as procurement, design review, payments and notices along with variations. You will work within a project team predominantly made up of technical, commercial, build, finance and customer care. You will help take responsibility for setting the standard of the company in being focused on attention to detail, diligent whilst building rapport with the wider project team, subcontractors and suppliers. This role will provide exposure to all levels of personnel within the business from trainee’s through to directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute and or take responsibility of cost reporting
  • Propose and submit a change order with suitable back up with evidence
  • Identify a potential problem, identify the solution and present it to their line manager
  • Manage a R&O register
  • Manage whole life cycle of a contract from tender to final account
  • Demonstrate attention to detail on a challenging subcontract variation claim’s
  • Demonstrate ability to lead others within the team
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with external 3rd parties such as employers’ agents (where applicable)
  • Take responsibility for full suite of packages
  • Chair a high-risk review meeting with relevant personnel
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with a prolongation claim from a subcontractor
  • Demonstrate ability to oversee an infrastructure package
  • Demonstrate ability to produce and monitor a subcontract TES in line with the programme

Relevant experience:

The candidate must come from a housebuilding background and have been responsible for overseeing a site as lead previously. This would be suitable for a candidate that is looking to move up to Senior Surveyor or has recently moved up to a Senior Surveyor. Ideally, the candidate will have experience of multi-phase sites with large infrastructure packages such as remediation, demolition, cut and fill.
